The members of Prison Fellowship Singapore (PFS) visited us with Ms. Jackie Pullinger when she was in town for the Prison Ministry Conference 2024, “Beyond the Prison Walls.” Ms. Pullinger shared passionately about her work in Hong Kong, which gave us deeper insights into the lives of drug addicts and the situations that have proven to be a challenge for gospel-based drug rehabilitation work there.

Praise and thanks to the Lord! We were honoured to have Mr. Desmond Lee, Minister for National Development and Minister-in-Charge of Social Services Integration, join us for our official opening on 7th July 2024. Since 1983, we have been dedicated to helping former drug addicts rebuild their lives. In 2007, we started the café social enterprise at People’s Park Centre, and in 2022 we relocated to Changi Village.

We aim to equip the brothers with valuable culinary skills and F&B service knowledge, creating job opportunities and becoming a blessing to many. Today, the Breakthrough Art & Crafts Café serves French cuisine on the first floor in a cozy and warm environment. Both the indoor and outdoor lush greenery and vibrant flowers enhance the surroundings, promoting a sense of well-being and offering a tranquil escape.

The second floor offers hair and treatment services, as well as a handicrafts area showcasing the artistic talents of the Art & Crafts department. We hope to provide a platform for creative expression and support their journey towards self-sufficiency. These unique pieces are available for diners to purchase and bring home as meaningful works of art.

This expansion reflects our commitment to providing comprehensive services to meet the diverse needs of the community. It also fulfils the words of the Bible in John 8:36: “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” Those once seen as hopeless drug addicts have, through Breakthrough’s programme, become new creations—their old lives have passed away, and everything has been made new.
