Before
the Covid Pandemic Breakthrough Family Day was an annual
event. The residents, staff and members of the Overcomers’ fellowship, together
with their families, would gather for fun and food or go on an outing. This was
suspended during the pandemic years. Finally
the Breakthrough family was able to have its first barbecue party in 3 years,
on 30 December 2022.
The brothers and sisters had a great time barbecuing and enjoying the food and
fun. Everyone also shared a deep thanksgiving in their hearts for the Lord’s
blessing throughout the year.
More than 150 attendants, including 50 of them from the singing
team, staff and volunteers of Breakthrough Singapore, had put in an appearance
at the 20th anniversary of Breakthrough Indonesia despite the mizzle on 17
November 2022.
Pastor Simon Neo spoke on the theme “Invest in the Heavenly
Commission” with the audience. He said, “Life investment includes everything we
own – money, time and talent. We will win many lost souls and fulfil the
commission of love should we invest in the Kingdom of Heaven as Jesus had
reminded us “For where you treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Only
then, we will have our lives transformed impacting many people around us to
follow Jesus. Our earthly richness, however impressive it may be, cannot be
carried into the Kingdom of Heaven. Breakthrough Indonesia has helped more than
500 ex-drug abusers. Drugs have devastated many lives in this century. Alone we
will not be able to transform even one drug abuser’s life, yet everything is
possible in God. To saving souls, we are committed ourselves to the call of
service faithfully. Therefore, we must equip Jesus’ disciples, send
missionaries of the gospel to all corners of Indonesia. The whole family will
be blessed with grace when one member believes in Christ and stays away from
drugs.”
Pastor Simon thanked God’s gracious leading for the past 20 years
of Breakthrough Indonesia and on behalf of Breakthrough Indonesia, he offered
the deepest gratitude to the church and all those who had supported and cared
for them.
Like for many
Christmases at Breakthrough in the past our loving sister Mary Ong, a lawyer by
profession, came with her team to celebrate the occasion with us. Besides
sharing the Christmas message, she also presented to Breakthrough a map of
Israel she bought in Israel.
The festive celebration
included a sumptuous Christmas dinner with Breakthrough’s special honey-baked
ham on its menu. It was a warm and convivial gathering. Pastor Simon’s sharing of
God’s word was a stable item in every Christmas celebration at Breakthrough.
